Patrik Hajek and Oliver Rasmussen centered the Top 10 in the last round of the FIA Karting European Championship for categories KZ and KZ2, which took place at the South Garda Karting in Lonato.

After the one-shot WSK Open Cup, making a spectacle in the last weekend of June, the South Garda Karting in Lonato again was the stage of exciting challenges on the weekend of 12-15 July, during the last heat of the FIA Karting European Championship for KZ and KZ2 categories. An event where the drivers of the Kosmic Racing Deparment managed to defend themselves their hardest with fantastic performances, always determined to improve in view of the last races of 2018 season.

Oliver Rasmussen, especially, was able to prove what he has learned so far, showing a high competitiveness in KZ2 category: his weekend began with an eight time in qualifying, who immediately exploited to center two second and one third position in the heats. His driving feeling with his Kosmic Mercury S powered by Vortex progressively improved, allowing him to reach the fifth position in view of the final, where he jumped from the start and immediately tried to enter the fight for the victory. The great heat and the highly competitive level of his opponents, however, affected him during the last part of the race, ended with a tenth position that is, in any case, the proof of the great commitment he showed throughout the weekend.

His teammates: Paul Evrard and Axel Bengtsson, started the weekend with some difficulties to adapt to the technical layout of the South Garda Karting, which requires a very fluid and smooth ride. This penalized them in the heats, where their results were not enough to enter the decisive race of the weekend.

Even the expert Patrik Hajek had difficulty in maximizing the potential at his disposal: in the master class KZ should have immediately entered the fight for the victory to be able to improve his fifth position in the Championship general rating. The Czech driver, hit the fifteenth time in the qualifying practices on Friday, centering the thirteenth position at the end of the qualifying heat. A result that has not motivated him to give his best in the final, where at the end of the 25 laps, he centered the tenth position under the checkered flag.

What has been done by the Kosmic Racing Department drivers, in any case, will come in handy for the next round of the shifter categories, namely the CIK-FIA KZ World Championship and the KZ2 International Supercup scheduled for 6-9 September on the Genk circuit, in Belgium. The next commitment in the 2018 calendar, however, will be the last round of the European Championship for the OK-OKJ single-speed categories, which will take place on the weekend of 2-5 August on the French track of Essay.
