The 15th edition of the Winter Cup was really important for the Kosmic team, especially with reference to the engines for KF category, the new Vortex RAD.
Even if the weather was uncertain, the temperatures were low and the finals took place under particular conditions (with delay and with street lamps), the Winter Cup has been a good experience for the whole team and the results are a good starting point for our work.
SKF – In the Super KF some accidents, caused from the difficult conditions of the wet track, penalized both our drivers, Convers and Cooper, who were forced to start from the back positions in the final.
At the end of the race Ben Cooper recovered many positions and arrived 11th , unfortunately Armand Convers was forced to give up the race when he was among the first ten drivers, due to a small inconvenience.
Both drivers were concentrated on the set-up of the Linx, chassis with 32mm tubes and in the end they were perfect with Vega XM tires used for this race.
KF2 – In KF2 the new drivers Victor Colomè and Olver Grotz got on well with the team but for them the Italian race was a little bit unlucky, the hard fight on the wet track didn’t allow them to show the real potential of the Mercury chassis. The chronometric results proved that they have a good feeling with the technical material.
KF3 - In KF3, Pedro Hiltbrand stood out for his driving skills, he could make an interesting WSK Euro Series. In fact the young Spanish driver got on well with the team and with its work methodology. Moreover he has at his disposal a great technical material.
Olivier Marechal - Team Manager Kosmic Kart Racing Department:
“In Super KF we were unlucky but we are not worried about it, it is better to have some problems now so that we can be ready for the first race of the WSK. In KF3 the new driver Hilbrand can give us a great contribution. However the Winter Cup took place under particular conditions, it is difficult that it will be so cold and wet during the next races…” |
